This top was pieced by John T., a local Amish former carpenter, now quilt piecer. It all started one day when John's wife was working on a Lone Star pattern and was having trouble getting the 60 degree angle to fit. John told his wife "I think I could do as well as that" Whereupon his wife shoved the fabric and instructions his way. Page two. That was the end of John's wife's quilt making and the beginning of John's piecing. So now John pieces all my star quilts and his wife sticks to hand stitching. If it has a star in it, John makes it, broken star, lone star, Alabama star, etc. This quilt was stitched in our shop by our Amish snowbird quilters. The top was marked by Ella with contemporary stitching lines instead of feather rings.
The Lone Star is one of our best selling patterns - most of the gentlemen who purchase quilts choose this one done in black and white with shades of grey. This pattern is also known as Texas Star or Radiant Star. Lone Star colors currently available in shop are green/yellow, black/white. We can make this quilt in any color of your choice, green, purple, red/black/white, brown/gold - just give us 3 months notice for John to piece the top and us to quilt it.
