Upcoming classes
Bargello Again:  An outstanding class we have offered multiple times over the past two years.  Suitable for the confident beginner, it is just strip piecing and staying organized.  We can show you how to get and stay organized for this piece; then you can transfer the organization skills to all your other quilting projects!  Fabric kit included, all strips are precut so you are ready to sit and sew first step.  Kit is packed in Alma Sue's green eco-friendly bag, entitling you to a forever 10% discount when shopping with the bag.  Fabric, classes, free open sewing to finish = $85.  Strictly limited to 4 students.
Tuesdays November 6, 13, 20.  1-4 pm

Basics of Free Motion Quilting:  Tuesday October 23, 1-4 pm  $40
Stop the expense of sending your quilts out to be finished and learn how to finish them on your machine.  You can do this!  The class takes you beyond stitching in the ditch and lets you create patterns.  And we won't spend the first two hours lecturing or making you buy expensive supplies!  You will need a sewing machine that drops the feed dogs.  Look in your attachments and find either a darning foot, big foot, or embroidery foot; the one used when machine is in embroidery mode.  (We have both low and high shank sewing machine feet if you can't find yours).  A practice fabric/batting sandwich is provided in class fee.  This class is a pre-requisite to using our Bernina Q20 to finish your quilts.  Limited to 4 students.

Double Wedding Ring:  Dena  Wednesday afternoons; date to be determined
Dena arrives November 7, after which time she will announce the dates for the DWR class.  This class fills quickly, so if you are interested, call the shop and get on the waiting list.

What's new:  Catitude still very strong.  This panel of cute metallic cats and coordinates are in the 20th printing and it has been selling briskly online.
We have plenty of the panels in store, refill of the coordinate bolts arrived this afternoon; we will get them out soon as possible.  We offer a free pattern on how to make hot pads from the panel blocks for your favorite cat lover.  Pattern available in store only, not online.

Unicorns are trending.  We have a cute unicorn panel in pink and aqua for the little princess, along with coordinating fabrics.  Quick and easy quilt.

Robert Kaufman panel with cute calico animals.  Cut up the squares, add sashing and borders with coordinating prints or gingham and make a cute crib quilt.  Billie is busy making samples of the new baby panels - kits will be available in store and online.

Finally we will retire the attic window deer panel and kits by Real Tree.  More than 100 bolts of this panel have gone out the door in the last 24 months and the original image is no longer available.  Some kits and panels are still available in store and online; hurry if you want to grab a panel for a future gift (almasueshop.com)

Books trending online are "Fat Quarter Baby" and "Precut Primer, " both also available in the shop.  The FQ Baby book is included in a teddy bear quilt kit and in the whale quilt kit.  Lots of other quilt patterns for children in the book, each one uses only FQs.

I'm allowed one pet peeve before signing off.  Sew, why does every sentence using the word "so" have to be spelled "sew?"  That is sew beautiful, sew much fun, sew easy, sew tired of reading it, grates on my eyes and ears!
