In this first class you will be making the Urban Runner. The fee includes the large 'quick curves' ruler, fabric, pattern, and instruction. This is an effortless way to make curved quilt patterns, including the clam shell and double wedding ring.
More Christmas fabric arrives every week. Boxes of fabric from Quilting Treasures arrived. The new Holiday Flourish will arrive this week; it was shipped from California last week.
Not sure what else arrived in the shop last week since I had to take a quick trip to Ohio and am writing this newsletter from there.
My nephew Jacob died suddenly last week from a cardiac event. You may remember him since he came to Florida each January and February to help out in the shop. Jacob was the nephew who was so ill and hospitalized with myocarditis while in Florida in 2014. Year by year the family dwindles. Make a point this week to reach out to someone you have been planning to call, to visit, or meet for lunch.
We are expanding the classroom, moving the longarm machine over to the West side again to make room for an internet fulfillment center. We sell on three different sites, I call them the "big box" sites. Our focus is to sell quilts and fabric items we make, along with a few miscellaneous things. We don't actively sell online from the "AlmaSue.com" website and we don't sell fabric by the yard on the internet. The almasue.com site is basically for news and informational background. We get a kick out of sending quilts to Australia and New Zealand!
As the quilting industry changes, so must the brick and mortar shops quickly adapt to change or get overrun. We are fortunate to have a talented group of people that enables us to offer custom quilts and unique fabric items for sale.
Don't forget to check out our FaceBook "Alma Sue's Quilt Shop." We try to post something every day; class samples, quilt in the frame, current custom projects underway, etc. I return to Florida next week and will take some photos of the Christmas fabric in the shop and some of the projects and classes planned for July. Right now we are finishing up our piece for the Row by Row event.
