We are excited to see new Christmas fabric for 2017. Yes it seems we just got done with 2016 and that's the fabric business. Buy a year ahead, get it shipped 7-8 months ahead, make samples in a frenzy, Christmas in July events, Holiday classes and events in the fall, then clear out the old fabric and order new fabric for the next cycle. So we have come to the conclusion our entire planning year revolves around the fall and winter holiday season and holiday fabric! Probably fairly accurate. We already have 3 samples made for the new fabric and kit lines. Faye has a great Bargello runner sewed, quilted, and bound, ready for classes. We have a great iron on stencil to make a 24 inch Christmas tree (a new iron-on stencil!) in red and green. One is a reverse applique, the other regular applique. Fabric already has steam-a-seam attached. A great Sunflower panel and collection from Wilmington Dry Goods arrived. Kits cut, sample being sewed. Also comes with sunflower placemat panels, great for the fall. Today we put together 2 dynamite Christmas samples using that great "Afternoon Delight" pattern. Poinsettias in two different colorways using the Holiday Flourish 10 collection from Robert Kaufman. One color is the red, black, silver line and the other is the red, black, green, gold line. Both make a dramatic finished piece. Then we have a really cute runner with curvy trees, using that fabulous Quick Curve Ruler. That will be a class coming up. Learn now how to use the quick curve ruler in a class coming up on May 17 and 24. A new way to make effortless curved pieces. Did you admire that quilt made by the Friendship Knot Quilt Guild and maybe buy a few raffle tickets? Learn how to make those clamshell curves with the Quick Curve Ruler!
Just new in this week is the Christmas Chickadee collection by April Cornell. Classic greens, reds, berries, chickadees, strips, etc. We received notice that the Robert Kaufman precuts are on the way to be delivered mid week next week. Notice also arrived that our two boxes of Christmas fabric from Quilting Treasures was shipped yesterday, due to arrive next week. We are taking a new tack and putting out the holiday fabric as it comes in. Decided not to wait until a big reveal in July, so you can get an early look and see what's going on. We still plan to do a one-day Christmas in July with demos and door prizes and food. This year I only bought Holiday fabric from the vendors and lines that were able to ship to us by May, in order to give us time to make samples and get it previewed for you. Last year two vendors didn't ship until mid to late August, far too late!
The hotel is at the 3rd floor level. Didn't quite believe it when they estimated completion date of mid to late fall, but here it is. For the next few months the traffic patterns on campus will change. Each entrance will be blocked one at a time for about 6-8 weeks as they work on the parking lots and pool. The first entrance to close is the restaurant carry out pick up entrance and lane. Our entrance is open. The next entrance to close is the West entrance to the hotel, but our entrance will still be open. In September the usual entrance to our shop will be closed for 6-8 weeks. You can still access the shop and parking lot but it will be through the new hotel/restaurant entrance and food pick up lane. Fortunately this will happen after Row by Row is completed. I will keep you informed as to the status of the traffic patterns here.
What else is new? That cute Noah's Ark panel and collection from Northcott is here. More of the Solitary Sentinel wolf panel. Timeless Treasures Garden panel and kits now cut to make the garden into a lookout window. New soft animals. A cute kitty packaged in a kit with everything needed to make it, needle, thread, fabric, stuffing, instructions. A good beginning sewing kit. I made the sample sewing it by hand one night while watching a marathon of M*A*S*H reruns. New also is a nice golf collection being cut into kits using the "Tee Time" pattern. We actually combined the new golf collection from Northcott and from Quilting Treasures for the kit, since we thought neither collection alone worked out perfectly.

And we won't make you buy a bunch of needless notions and gadgets to do the quilting.
